A Luminous Evening

With less than two years to go in the Centennial Campaign for UCLA, the university took an evening to celebrate the visionary donors who have led the way thus far.

The UCLA Luminaries Dinner, held in April at Luskin Conference Center, honored supporters who have given $1 million or more during the campaign. More than 160 guests enjoyed dinner on the Centennial Terrace. President of the Undergraduate Students Association Council Arielle Yael Mokhtarzadeh ’18, Chancellor Gene Block, and campaign co-chair Tony Pritzker inspired attendees with their remarks. At the end, Pritzker roused the crowd by calling several people to the front of the room to lead the crowd in the Bruin eight-clap!

Through the evening, a slideshow played featuring the work — from new interdisciplinary spaces to world-changing education and research — made possible by UCLA philanthropists. These committed donors, who received specially framed photos at evening’s end, are partnering with UCLA to create opportunity, cultivate excellence, and promote progress. Their campaign gifts already are making a difference for faculty, students, researchers, and people in communities in Los Angeles and around the world.

Gaining momentum, the Centennial Campaign is entering its final stretch — and the generosity of UCLA’s friends will inspire new gifts and illuminate the path to UCLA’s second century.
